April 27th 2008: Good news as despite Maria's absence, Russia won is semifinals in Fed Cup and will face Spain in the final! Maria should be playing, it will take place in September.
April 25th 2008: Some interesting quotes from Maria from a recent interview:) "People don't see me outside clubs at 3 a.m. I don't like to party. I don't like drinking. My life is fulfilling outside the court," said Sharapova. "In regards to dating, I'm pretty independent. I don't always have to be with someone. Maybe one day I will."

April 22nd 2008: Maria announced she would not be playing in Berlin after all (2 weeks from now) and will instead return to action in Rome the following week....

April 18th 2008: Sad news as Maria lost her match today in the Charleston as she lost to USA's Serena Williams 7-5, 4-6, 6-1.
April 17th 2008: Good news as Maria won her match today in the Charleston as she defeated Ukraine's Tatiana Perebiynis with a 7-5, 6-2 win, she will now face Serena Williams.
April 17th 2008: Maria was in action yesterday playing her opening match in Charleston. She easily reached the 3rd round taking out Bethanie Mattek 6-0, 6-0! Up next, she will face Tatiana Perebiynis.
April 14th 2008: Maria did not even have to play her semifinal as her opponent, Lindsay Davenport withdrew because of an injury.. Then, Maria completed her great tournament by winning the final against Dominika Cibulkova 7-6, 6-3!! Well done!!!
April 11th 2008: Good news as Maria won her match today in the Amelia Island as she defeated Annabel Medina Garrigues with a 7-6, 5-7, 7-6 win, she will now face Alona Bondarenko.

April 2nd 2008: It was announced that Maria would not be playing the upcoming Fed Cup tie and would be replaced by Svetlana Kuznetsova. “We had an agreement with Kuznetsova and Sharapova that one of them would play against Israel and the other against the U.S.,” Russia captain Shamil Tarpishchev said Tuesday. “Sharapova had already played in Tel Aviv, so now it’s Kuznetsova’s turn. It was sort of a trade-off because both of them have very busy schedules."
April 1st 2008: Maria announced she had accepted a wild card to play next week in Charleston in the Family Circle Cup. More infos soon!
