October 30th 2006: Israeli player Shahar Peer had some nasty comments about Maria in an interview, she said that Sharapova is only nice and friendly when there are cameras but not in personal. she reveald that after the match in Zurich, Shahar's mom entered to the gym and said hello to Maria and Yuri but they did not comment. in the morning, Shahar met Yuri and said to him "well done" and again he did not response. according to Shahar this is not the first time so she have no symphathy to mrs. Sharapova

October 29th 2006: Great news today for Maria as she was finally able to win the tournament in Linz, she defeated Nadia Petrova 7-5, 6-2!!!

October 28th 2006: After all, tomorrow, Maria's opponent will be fellow Russian Nadia Petrova..! Also, read Maria's comments following her match: "I am so excited to play another final," said Sharapova, who has beaten Petrova in four of their five matches. "I am mentally a bit tired, so I was happy to win against Patty in two sets."

October 28th 2006: Great news for Maria as she fought hard and was able to move past Patty Schnyder thanks to a 7-5, 7-5 win!!! She now advances to the Linz singles final and will now face either Nicole Vaidisova or Nadia Petrova, more news soon..!

October 28th 2006: Yesterday, Maria continued her progress in Linz, she posted a 7-6, 7-5 win against Ana Ivanovic, the talented young Serb. She now advances to a semifinal matchup with Patty Schnyder.

October 26th 2006: Maria is already back in action as she continues to battle in hopes of ending 2006 as th world #1! Today, she played her first match in Linz, a 7-5, 6-1 win against Greece's Eleni Daniilidou!

October 22nd 2006: Great news for Maria as she prevailed 6-1, 4-6, 6-3 over Daniela Hantuchova to win the Zurich title !

October 21st 2006: With a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Timea Bacsinszky and a 7-6, 6-2 win over Katarina Srebotnik, Maria moves into the finals facing Daniela Hantuchova !

October 19th 2006: Maria is back in action in Zurich; she defeated Shahar Peer 6-4, 7-6 and faces Timea Bacsinszky in 3rd round.

October 13th 2006: Unfortunately, Maria had to pull out of the Kremlin Cup becaused of a strained foot..

October 11th 2006: Maria won her first match at the Kremlin Cup against Ekaterina Bychkova; her third round opponent will be either Francesca Schivaone or Anna Chakvetadze.

October 3rd 2006: In an interview given to Russian media, Maria said she would be ready and willing in playing the 2007 Fed Cup first round tie against Spain if the team needs her and if she's healthy.
