October 17th 2005: First off some bad news, Maria will lose her #1 ranking next Monday and will probably not regain it this year because she will not be playing until the End of Year Championships. On a more positive note, you can see some great photos of Maria taken in Moscow here: #1, #2, #3, #4, #5

October 14th 2005: Tough loss today for Maria as she was defeated in the Moscow quarterfinals by Dinara Safina:(

october 13th 2005: After all, Maria's next opponent will be another Russian as she'll face Dinara Safina! Go Masha:)

October 13th 2005: See a new wallpaper of Maria here:)

October 12th 2005: Wow..talk about good fortune. Maria was playing her first round today in the Kremlin Cup in Moscow. She had actually dropped early and was down 6-1, 4-2 when her opponent Anna-Lena Groenefeld twisted an ankle and had to retire...!

October 6th 2005: Maria will be playing some exhibition matches just before Christmas in Japan: Sharapova will begin the tour at Osakajo Hall on Dec 21 and move to Nagoya Sports Complex the next day and Ariake Colosseum in Tokyo on Dec 23. The tour's main attractions include matches featuring Sharapova and Japan's Ai Sugiyama, fashion shows and tennis clinics for children.

October 2nd 2005: Great news as Maria qualified for the Year-End Championships, read about it here:)
