June 30th 2005: Tough tough loss today for Maria in Wimbledon, she suffered a 7-6 (2), 6-1 loss against Venus Williams in the semifinals, her first loss on grass in over 2 years. We will soon be posting photos and comments from Maria...

June 28th 2005: Congrats Maria:) Today again, she posted a solid win, this time 7-6, 6-3 against Nadia Petrova, a dangerous player... Only Venus Williams now stands between Maria and the singles final:) That match will be played Thursday....!

June 27th 2005: Another very good performance today by Maria, she defeated Nathalie Dechy, who is #18 in the world 6-4, 6-2 today to advance to the quarterfinals. Tomorrow, she will face fellow Russian Nadia Petrova.

June 25th 2005: Maria was tested a lot more today but she came up with solid tennis, she posted a 6-2, 6-4 win against Katerina Srebotnik. Next up for Maria will be #16 seed Nathalie Dechy!!!

June 23rd 2005: Maria was once again very solid today in Wimbledon, this time she posted a 6-0, 6-1 win against young Bulgarian Sesil Karatantcheva, a girl who not long ago said Maria was afraid to play her...laughable isn't it. In her next match, Maria will face Katerina Srebotnik:) And we'll have Maria's post-match comments very soon:)

June 21st 2005: Great start for Maria, she was solid today as she posted a 6-2, 6-2 win against Nuria Llagostera Vives to advance to the 2nd round in Wimbledon. We will soon be posting Maria's post-match comments. In her next match, she will face either Amanda Janes or Sesil Karatantcheva.

June 17th 2005: Maria is to be the #2 seed next week in Wimbledon, she'll start up against Nuria Llagostera Vives, see the complete draw here:)

June 12th 2005: Congrats to Maria:) She was able to defend her title thanks to a 6-2, 4-6, 6-1 win over Jelena Jankovic!:) Maria will now head to Wimbledon where she will start the defence of her title in 8 days:)

June 11th 2005: Maria reached the final in Birmingham today thanks to a 7-5, 6-1 over France's Tatiana Golovin! In tomorrow's final, she will be up against Jelena Jankovic.

June 10th 2005: Maria was struggling a bit more today but posted a 7-5, 2-6, 6-1 win over Eleni Daniilidou... she will now face #5 seed Tatiana Golovin.

June 9th 2005: Well Maria did need 3 sets but she defeated Samanyha Stosur 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 and will now face Eleni Daniilidou.

June 7th 2005: Maria is already back in action, trying to defend her title in Birmingham:) She started with a 6-3, 6-0 win today against Anne Kremer. Next is either Samantha Stosur or Evie Dominikovic.
