July 30th 2004: Maria's journey in San Diego ended today as she lost 7-5, 6-2 against Anastasia Myskina..

July 29th 2004: WOW! Maria won today 6-0, 6-1 against Gisela Dulko to advance to the quarterfinals, she will now face Anastasia Myskina, the #1 ranked Russia.

July 29th 2004: Maria will face Gisela Dulko today in San Diego, the #4 match on centre court:) Go Masha!!!!

July 27th 2004: Convincing win by Masha tonight in San Diego, she dismissed Liliah Osterloh 6-3, 6-3 and will face either Mary Pierce or Gisela Dulko next...

July 25th 2004: Maria will be playing in the Tier 1 in San Diego next week as she will be the #3 seed. See the full draw here. It will be Maria's first tournament since her Wimbledon Championship!!!!

July 17th 2004: Well I hope you got a chance to see Maria last night, she seemed really nice on the Late Show, she was dressed pretty casual, talked mostly about her life, not much new that we got to hear but it was interesting to see her, she wasn't shy at all and was pretty funny!

July 16th 2004: Two news for today! First off, no surprise in the fact that Maria was named the most beautiful player on Tennisrulz' survey but she won by a big margin, and she was also named the most talented, congratulations! Be sure to keep voting so she can stay there! And also, tonight Maria will be on Jay Leno, the popular US talkshow, should be interesting:) In the US it is broadcasted at 11:35PM on NBC.

July 15th 2004: Maria played her first WTT match yesterday as she helped Newport post a 23-16 win over the Sacramento Capitals! She won in doubles and mixed doubles, losing 5-3 in singles against Nicole Vaidisova.

July 3rd 2004: Maria defeated Serena Williams 6/1, 6/4 to win the 2004 Wimbledon Championships, her first Grand Slam title in career! Congratulations Maria!!!

July 1st 2004: Maria had a tough start today against Lindsay Davenport, losing the first set 6-2 and going down an early break but after a rain delay she found her game, took the attack and won 2-6, 7-6, 6-1 to advance to her first ever Grand Slam Singles Final!!! In the final, Maria will face the winner of the 2002 and 2003 tournaments, Serena Williams!
