January 27th 2003: Good news as Maria jumped in the singles rankings from #183 to #156 thanks to her qualification in the Australian Open main draw:)
January 18th 2003: Maria's 2003 Australian Open is now officially over as she and Marion Bartoli finally lost their second round match in doubles after giving a good battle to the #2 seeds, a 6-3, 2-6, 6-1 loss to Virginia Ruano-Pascual and Pascal Suarez,,,
January 15th 2003: Good result for Maria who teamed up with Marion Bartoli in a 6-3, 6-4 win in doubles over Eleni Daniilidou and Caroline Vis... Next up will probably be the #2 seeds Virginia Ruano-Pascual and Pascal Suarez (provided they defeat Krasnoroutskaya and Panova).
January 14th 2003: Maria will be back on the court as soon as tomorrow as she and Marion Bartoli will play their first round in doubles, against Daniilidou and Vis. The match is scheduled to be played on court #8 (the 2nd match)
January 14th 2003: Maria was unfortunatly defeated 6-4, 7-6 in the first round of the Australian Open today by qualifier Kara Koukalova!:(
January 13th 2003: Good news as Maria will also be playing doubles in Melbourne as she teams up with young French player Marion Bartoli.. they will be up against Daniilidou and Vis in their first round match...
January 13th 2003: Well, fans who are on court #7 for the last match there will be lucky enough to see Maria live against Kara Koukalova in the first round of the Australian Open.. let's hope things will go well!:)
January 11th 2003: Great news as Maria had no problems winning her 3rd round of qualifying today, posting a 6-1, 6-2 win over Alena Vaskova! She hit an impressive 24 winners compared with 17 unforced errors, great stats! In the first round, Maria will face Klara Koukalova who is ranked #115 in the world! You can see the full draw here! January 10th 2003: Here is an update of Maria's situation in Melbourne by Matt Donaldson:) By the way, Maria's next match is scheduled to be played at 10AM local time on court #18!
January 10th 2003: Wouhou, another win today for Maria in Melbourne as she crushed Maria Goloviznina 6-3, 6-2 in the second round of qualifying. Maria's next match will be against Alena Vaskova who is ranked #154 in the world..

January 8th 2003: Congratulations to Maria who got through her first qualifying match today in Melbourne with a 6-3, 7-5 win over Renata Voracova, who probably was the toughest opponent for Masha in her conquest of a main draw place... Next up, she will face Maria Goloviznina who is ranked #152 in the world...

January 3rd 2003: Playing Monica Seles is always quite a challenge and it proved too much for Maria who fell 6-3, 6-0 after taking a 2-0 lead.. Still, what a great experience for Maria whose first win opened many eyes.. In doubles, Maria and Anastasia Myskina lost 8-4 against Dementieva/Maleeva
January 3rd 2003: Very nice and surprisingly easy win for Maria as she crushed Maggie Maleeva 6-3, 6-0 in her first match in Hong Kong! We can expect a much tougher time though for her next match, against the first seed Monica Seles! You can get some more info about the match here.
January 1st 2003: Maria is only a few hours away from her matchup with Maggie Maleeva in Hong Kong.. the winner will then face Monica Seles who simply crushed her opponent in the first round! By the way, Maria will also be playing doubles in trhis tournament as Friday she and Anastasia Myskina will face Dementieva/Maleeva!
