August 23rd 2002: Hello everyone! I know it has been some time since the last update!:( Ok, so I still have to figure out a way to find Maria's next tournaments but I think she could play in Quebec city and Japan (both in September) but what she will do in the meantime, I have no idea! Today, I added many new photos of Maria that were sent to me. Unfortunatly, for many of those I do not know who took them so if you know who did, please let me know so I can give proper credits. August 4th 2002: YAHOO! Maria won her second professional title with a 0-6, 6-3, 6-1 win over Laura Granville! She will now be ranked around #325 in one week when those points come in! Congrats Maria!

August 3rd 2002: Maria has a better challenge this time as she faced Renata Kolbovic who proved to be a worth opponent.. Still, Maria reached the final with a 7-5, 7-5 win! She will now face Lara Granville in the final, for not only the title but a place in the Quebec qualifications in September!

August 3rd 2002: Things did not get any tougher for Maria in the quarterfinals in Vancouver as she defeated Lauren Kalvaria 6-2, 6-0! .... She has outscored her opponents 36-5 so far this tournament!!!!

August 1st 2002: No problem for Maria today! The 15 year-old Russian seemed in another league than #4 seed Melanie Marois in Vancouver in the second round match, a 6-1, 6-1 result! She will now face Lauren Kalvaria in the quarterfinals!

August 1st 2002: Very impressive performance by Maria yesterday in Vancouver as she eliminated Nicole Sewell 6-1, 6-0! She will now face #4 seed Melanie Marois in the second round!
